Meeting Tomorrows Challenges Today
Empowering Voters, Defending Democracy
Welcome to the League of Women Voters of Prince William-Fauquier Area. Pericles, an Athenian politician (495-429 B.C.) understood the importance of politics. In his view, “Just because you do not take an interest in politics, doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in you.” The League clearly understands Pericles’ view. As abundantly demonstrated in the past fifteen years, the Prince William-Fauquier Area League of Women Voters is not only aware of politics taking an interest in citizens but has clearly demonstrated its interest in politics. Just over the past two years, the League has increased its political footprint, in both Prince William County and Fauquier County, by encouraging active citizen participation in government, working to increase understanding of major political issues, and influencing public policy through education and advocacy activities. The League’s highly skilled and knowledgeable Board has prepared a 2022-2023 Plan of Action, to fit every member’s calendar. There is an abundance of Member participation opportunities, including voter and high school student voter registration; assembling, publishing, and distributing the important VOTE-411 pre-election voter guide and the post-election Facts for Voters guide on election results with government references; hosting debates; tracking government agenda, programs and activities in the League’s Observer Corps; benefitting from meeting speakers; joining issue study groups, linking up with “Sips and Civility” discussions; or joining the Book Review Group and broadening your views on issues of interest through reading both contemporary and previously published books. Come join our activities and participate in our programs. Pencil in a Calendar Date today!
